Training those afflicted by war, persecution, trafficking, and poverty is a very special privilege. There is such a great need to give vocational skills to the youth on the Thai/Myanmar border where so many young people seek refuge and who have little opportunity to even glimpse a better future.
At H.Y.D. we aim to equip those we train with the necessary skills to either gain full time employment in a reputable business or to aid in the establishment of their own small business.
Training projects made available at our base is as follows:-
Training in baking, cooking, barista, customer service and health and safety in our operating cafe/restaurant is transforming lives as youth learn to work with an attitude of excellence.
HYD gym has been set up to give young folk the opportunity to learn self discipline, health & fitness and self defense. With the amount of trafficking, slavery and abuse especially among young girls our self defense training has made a huge impact on young lives. The demand for training within schools and on a personal level has brought about the success of the program for many young people, giving them hope and a purpose for their futures.
Our newest training project and especially popular with the girls is our hairdressing center. Having a job in this type of career allows our trainees to get good jobs or the freedom to set up their own business.
Opportunity increases success and opportunity greatly increases when these youth can speak and read English. HYD has English language classes where they can get one on one training.
From time to time we offer other training projects when trainers are available. These include training in mechanics, cake decorating, fruit carving and anything else that becomes available.
